How to Report Grades for a Year-Long Course
If you don’t calculate grades mid-year, you may report a grade of “In Progress (IP)” for the fall semester. Then, at the end of the school year, simply update the fall semester with the final grade and submit the spring semester credit with the same final grade.
Example: Reporting a 1.00 Credit Year-Long Course
- Fall Semester - Credits: 0.50
- Grade: In Progress (IP)

- Spring Semester (End of Year) - Calculate the final grade for the full course.
- Update the fall semester grade from IP to the final grade.
- Report 0.50 credit for the spring semester with the same final grade.

This ensures accurate record-keeping while allowing flexibility in how and when you assess your student’s progress.
