IEP
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is specific to public school services, and a Section 504 Plan is a federal accommodation that applies only to federally funded programs, such as public schools. Neither applies when homeschooling or enrolling your child in a private school like an umbrella school.
The good news is that homeschooling offers you the flexibility to tailor curriculum and accommodations to your child’s needs without navigating formal IEP or 504 Plan procedures.
Wet Mountain School recommends keeping copies of any existing IEP or 504 Plan records for future reference, especially if your child might return to public school later.
